Farthest county
Home care in Durham County, North Carolina
Durham is the westernmost county we serve and the farthest from our office, more than an hour away by road. We would rather put that at the top of the page than let you find it out after the call. Praise Homecare Inc makes the drive anyway, and (877) 652-2907 is where it starts.
A city county
Durham is mostly Durham, and a city hides the drift
Durham County is small and the city takes up most of it. Research Triangle Park sits in the southeast. Parts of Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Morrisville cross the line into the county as well, although each of those is mostly somewhere else. Duke University Hospital and Duke Regional are both here.
On the Census Bureau’s 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey this is a young, comparatively well-off county: a median age in the mid thirties and household income well above the North Carolina figure. Roughly one resident in seven is over 65, and in a county of well over three hundred thousand people that is still a great many households.
A city changes the texture of the problem. Neighborhoods turn over, the neighbor who used to look in has moved away, and an older adult can be surrounded by people and still go a week without a proper conversation.
A city also hides the drift. In a small town somebody notices when a person stops coming to the shop. Here nobody does, so families often find out how far things have slipped only when they visit at Christmas. If that is what has just happened to you, you are not late and you are not the first.
Straight answers
More than an hour of road, and we are not going to dress that up
Everything below is what the distance does and does not change. It is a short list on purpose.
There is no Durham office. One office, in Wilson County, and no branch, team or coordinator out here, because inventing one would be the easiest lie on this website to tell.
Durham does not border Wilson either. Wake is the only county on our list that Durham touches, and everything else we do sits behind it. North Carolina allows an agency to serve its own county, the counties bordering it, or 90 minutes on the road, whichever reaches further, and this county rests entirely on the last of those.
So call and ask the awkward question, which is whether we can genuinely staff your street rather than whether we cover the county. You will get a straight answer, and if it is no you will get that instead of a booking.
What the miles do not touch: the phone, answered at every hour, nights and weekends and holidays included. The full background check before anybody is placed, and a registered nurse signing off their core skills before a first shift. Electronic visit verification clocking every visit in and out. And a backup caregiver arranged when a shift cannot be covered, which does not get weaker at the western end of the map.
When you are ready
Ask the awkward question first
Ring and ask whether we can cover your street in Durham County. If the answer is yes you will hear it in a minute, and if it is no we will say so and try to point you somewhere that can. (877) 652-2907, at any hour.
